Peter van der Wees

managing partner Peter van der Wees

In the business for almost 30 years and still curious and looking for new challenges when it comes to everything that concerns intellectual property. Peter is known to take a pro-active approach when it comes to protecting the business interest of his clients, which they universally appreciate.

A man of theory and practice. Peter advises clients on IP strategy, their trademark and design portfolios in various countries, and how to enforce them. He does this in a committed and proactive way. When it comes to enforcement, prevention is always better than cure.

As an IP expert, Peter worked for FMCG, electronics, entertainment and fashion companies. He assists multinationals, but just as much likes to help start-ups and non-profit organizations that are looking for someone who actively thinks along during different growth phases.

He worked for the two largest IP firms in the Netherlands for years, but his heart lies with his own firm. Which may not be surprising, seeing that he comes from a family of entrepreneurs.

Peter is an avid writer on all things IP, and he has extensive experience as a guest lecturer and tutor at various institutions such as the Dutch Bar Association, VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce and the Educational Association for Benelux Trademark and Design Law (BBMM).

Peter is a registered Benelux and European trademark attorney and an active member of various professional organizations, such as BMM, the International Trademark Association (INTA), AIPPI and the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG).

Married, father of twin sons and an avid sailor.

Peter is regularly recognised as a Recommended Individual in the WTR 1000, is also ranked internationally by Managing IP as an IP Star and Trademark Star (2023) and has been exclusively awarded Lexology’s Client Choice Award (NL- Trademark Agents and Attorneys) for 2024.
